About The Teacher

I grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, where I was inspired by wonderful teachers. My undergraduate education degree is from Warner University.   I have a Master’s degree in Gifted Education from the University of South Florida. I recently finished a graduate certificate program at Johns Hopkins University focusing on education leadership and technology integration.

I am always eager to improve my teaching and add to my toolbox of instructional strategies. I am a member of the National Council for the Social Studies, the National Association for Gifted Children, and the International Society for Technology in Education. I am National Board certified, as well as a certified Kagan Cooperative Learning School Trainer.

My areas of interest include strategy games, classic movies (especially Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn), playing the piano, and of course, teaching. I love fairy tale and fantasy stories, particularly those about dragons.

At home, I live with my husband, Matt, and my cat, Simon. We don’t have any children, but I do have 9 wonderful nieces and nephews: Leo, Mickey, Tiernan, Kira, Martha, Damon, Maia, Courtney, and Asha.

I enjoy traveling, and during the last four years I have visited England, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, and Japan.  Italy is next on my list!

  6. Mrs. Scott, i have some bad news, every time i try to go to your class documents section it sends me straight to google docs. I don’t know how to finish my reflections…

    • The file is located on Edmodo. It’s right there attached to the assignment. Google docs IS the class docs section. Click on 7th grade. If it asks you for a sign-in, that is a browser bug. Try a different browser. Or, even better, create a Google account using your e-mail address. It is a really good thing to have.

  7. Mrs. Scott where is your e-mail located on your website the other teachers have a little mail envelope i can’t find yours 😉
